Treatment

Treatment of stuttering is most effective if it is conducted in the preschool years.  The goal of treatment for preschool children is to achieve zero or very minimal stuttering.

Once children are in primary school, the disorder is known to become more chronic. While stuttering treatment is still effective for school-age children, teenagers and adults who stutter, the aim of therapy is to help reduce stuttering, build confidence, and manage any negative social experiences and/or speech-related anxiety.

During therapy, we will help you or your child develop fluent speech, and to gradually use the fluent speech or fluency techniques in different environments in your daily life. Together, we will also discuss and help you to problem-solve any challenges that you may face using your fluency techniques.

The treatment approaches will be tailored according to age and individual needs.

Here are just some of the treatment approaches that may be used for you or your child.
